Nominate a Sanctuary

VARC is donating £500 to a UK animal sanctuary—but we need your help to decide where it goes.

 

How to Participate:

  • If you attended VARC 2024, complete our Feedback Survey to reflect on the conference’s impact.

  • Nominate your favourite animal sanctuary as part of the survey.

  • The sanctuary with the most nominations will receive the donation.

  • Where will the conference held?
    Manchester; at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel, where we held 2024!
  • Can children attend?
    All ages are welcome! Children aged 3 & under attend for free. Children aged 4 & above require a ticket according to venue policy. Kindly email us before booking for guidance on ticketing options. For attendees with special needs or breastfeeding requirements, please inform us so we can make sure you are catered for. Minors must be supervised at all times. If you need further clarification or have questions, please contact us. We aim to ensure the event is accessible and accommodating to everyone.
  • Are you offering Travel Grants?
    Travel Grants are now closed. All applicants will be notified of the decision by December 15, 2024.
  • Who is the target audience for this conference?
    This is the primer UK conference for animal advocates, activists, and those wanting to get more involved in advocacy.
  • Will I be able to connect with attendees before the conference?
    Yes, we will be using the whova event app this year. For instructions, see our FAQ: How to Download and use the whova app.
  • Where can I apply to speak at VARC 2025?
    Our applications are now closed for 2025. The deadline was 30 September 2024.
  • I'd love to contribute to VARC! How can I get involved as a volunteer?
    We're thrilled to have you join our team! Volunteering is a fantastic way to support the animal rights movement, connect with fellow advocates, and be an integral part of this impactful event. We're seeking dedicated volunteers to fill key roles such as: Moderators: Support speakers by facilitating Q&A sessions, ensuring smooth transitions between presentations, and helping to create an engaging atmosphere. Welcome Desk: Be the friendly face of VARC, greeting attendees and providing information. Photographers: Capture the energy and inspiration of the conference through your lens. To apply, please fill in our volunteer application form We'll review applications on a rolling basis and be in touch with selected volunteers soon.     A limited number of rooms have been reserved for conference delegates at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly for Friday 28th and Saturday, March 29th, 2025. *We recommend double checking room rates on booking.com or with the hotel to make sure you're always getting the best up to date deal*
  • How to Download and Use the Whova App for VARC 2025
    What is the Whova app? The Whova app is a user-friendly platform that enhances your conference experience. It lets you access the agenda, network with attendees, and stay updated on event announcements. How do I download the Whova app? Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) on your mobile device. Search for "Whova". Download and install the app. How do I log into Whova for the conference? Open the Whova app. Sign up with the email address you used to register for VARC 2025. Create a password and complete your profile (if prompted). How do I join the VARC 2025 event on Whova? Once logged in, search for "Vegan and Animal Rights Conference 2025" in the app. Enter the event code provided in your registration confirmation email, if required. Access the conference agenda, sessions, and networking features. What can I do with the Whova app? View the full conference agenda and customise your schedule. Connect with other attendees, speakers, and sponsors. Receive real-time updates and announcements during the event. Access session materials and participate in live polls or Q&A.
